Romeo Force Rashtriya Rifles, in a joint venture with the Directorate of Technical Education Jammu & Kashmir initiated six skill developing courses for the AWAAM under Operation Sadbhavna in the district of Poonch. It is the first such initiative by the Army for the unemployed youth and women of J&K to empower them through providing skill training in Hand Embroidery, Motor Driving cum Veh Mechanic, Plumbing, Carpentry, Computer and Farming courses. All the courses will run in ITIs located at Poonch, Surankot, Mendhar, Handicraft units in Poonch, Mandi, Sheri Khwaja and Horticulture/Krishi Vigyan Kendra Poonch. The first batch comprising of 60 female candidates started their training in ‘Hand Embroidery’ in three Handicraft units located at Poonch, Mandi and Sheri Khwaja from May 2. The candidates on completion of training will be rewarded with meritorious certificates from NCVT besides tools/raw material kits for self employment in respective skill fields. All the courses will be run totally free of cost and Army will be providing necessary raw materials to each students during their training. It is learned from reliable sources that Army is planning to provide training to approximate 300 youth in the year 2016 in Poonch district itself. The course was inaugurated by Abdul Zaffar ,HTO at Poonch, Propkar Singh , Training in charge at Mandi , Parvez , Training in charge at Sheri khwaja in the presence of Army Chief Nodal Officer.
