RTO Kathua suspends 14-driving licenses, revokes one

RTO Kathua, Amarjeet Singh while interacting with the young license seekers at trial ground Kathua informed them about various safety tips to follow on road in view of the heavy loss of life on the roads.
He informed that as per the latest figures 1.4 lakh people have lost their lives in the road accidents in India during the last year. Quoting the recent death of a lady who was hit by a rashly driven bike near Dreamland Park RTO advised the License seekers to have patience on the road as road is not a place to show aggression where even a small mistake can lead to irreparable loss for an entire family.
He advised all to follow the traffic rules and share the road with other users for everyone’s safety and further said that the department has suspended fourteen driving licenses for a period of three months for indulging in various traffic violations.
RTO told the license seekers that obtaining a license do not mean that it is irrevocable. He informed that all the agencies are taking strict view of traffic violations in view of the instructions issued by the committee constituted by the Hon`ble Supreme Court.
“The suspended licenses have been impounded by different enforcement agencies for violations like over speeding, red light jumping, dangerous driving and drunken driving and forwarded for appropriate action as per the Motor Vehicles Act 1988 and the directions issued by the Hon’ble Supreme Court Committee on road safety”, he added.
He further said that department issued notices to these violators for giving them an opportunity of hearing and action taken under section 19 of the Motor Vehicles Act 1988, read with rule 21 of the Central Motor Vehicles Rules 1989. “One license has also been revoked as the same has been obtained by misrepresentation. Besides notices for suspension of Route Permits have also been issued to the vehicles indulging in overloading”, he said.
RTO advised the License seekers to deposit a self-addressed envelope to avail the facility of home delivery of Driving Licenses. He informed that department had delivered two thousand Driving Licenses through speed post so far and all of them have been received.
