Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi Monday held a paper reading session at Seminar Hall of J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages here. The event, co-hosted by the Academy, afforded opportunities to the paper readers in highlighting varied shades of local literary personalities comprising Mir Ghulam Rasool Nazki and Fazil Kashmiri.
The paper reading session, held under the series “Through My Window”, started with inaugural address by Prof. Mohammed Zaman Azurda, convener Kashmiri language, who presented a brief about activities of the Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi in the field of regional literature. Azurda also gave a detailed account of various dominating trends prevailing in Indian literature with special emphasis on issues and tendencies in modern Kashmiri literature.
It was followed by paper reading session in which papers were presented by noted litterateur Farooq Nazki and Academy’s Assistant Editor Encyclopaedia, Dr. Syed Iftikhar Ahmad on Fazil Kashmiri and Mir Ghulam Rasool Nazki respectively. Speaking on the sidelines of the event Secretary Academy, Dr. Aziz Hajini said that literature needs to be reviewed and evaluated from time to time to assess the progress and direction it is taking. He also commended the efforts of Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi in the field of literature and said that JKAACL will extend all possible help to the National Akademi of Letters in its literary pursuits.
Among others the function was attended by Regional Director ICCR, Srinagar chapter, Prof. Ayaz Rasool Nazki, President, Adbi Markaz Kamraz, Dr. Syed Shujaat Bukhari, academic Prof. Mishal Sultanpuri, Justice Bilal Nazki (Rtd), Prof. Taskeen Fazili and writer, Anayat Gul.
