Special Investigation Team (SIT) has mentioned Sarang Akolkar as the fourth suspect in its supplementary charge-sheet submitted in the judicial magistrate court against second suspect Dr Virendra Tawade in CPI senior leader |Com Govindrao Pansare murder case.
Akolkar is absconding along with third accused Vinay Pawar. A 435 pages charge-sheet, submitted by SIT assistant inspector Ramesh Khune to assistant superintendent of district court A A Karekar, which registered under IPC section 302,307 and 120/B of
murder, attempt of murder and involvement in a plot of murder, against Dr Tawade and mentioned Vinay Pawar and Akolkar as third and fourth suspect. It was necessary for SIT investigating officers to submit a supplementary charge-sheet against Dr Tawade before completing 90 days of his arrest, today being the 89th day. SIT had already submitted a charge-sheet against first accused Sameer Gaikwad on December 14 last. In charge-sheet, police had alleged that Sameer and his unidentified colleagues had hatched a plot and murdered Com Pansare on February 16 last year and also attempted to kill his wife Ms Uma, who was seriously injured. The charge-sheet against accused Gaikwad, which had submitted before first class judicial magistrate J M Dange under IPC section 302, 307,120b, 34,3/25, 5/25 of murder, attempt of murder, misuse of weapons to criminal conspiracy by two or more peoples.CBI had arrested Dr Tawade in Dr Narendra Dabholkar murder case on June 10 this year and during the investigation, police found that Dr Tawade was involved in Com Pansare murder case. Then SIT police
re-arrested Dr Tawade on September 2 as a second suspect in Com Pansare murder case and produced him before the judicial magistrate court.
The charge-sheet says Dr Tawade, who lived in Kolhapur during 2001 to 2008 practiced as ENT
specialist in Gangavesh area of the city and after shifting to Pune in 2008, he came again here in search of a pistol and contacted Sanjay Sadvilkar, who is one of the witness, but Sadvilkar refused. Before the murder of Dr Dabholkar, accused Tawade had come to Kolhapur with two youths and wandered in suspicious state in the the city, including in Shastri Nagar, a suburb of the city, where
Com Pansare had attacked. SIT has mentioned names of these two youths as Vinay Pawar and Akolkar, who had absconded. SIT police also attached statements of two witnesses Sadvilkar and More, which had registered as per IPC second 168. An eyewitness More, who resident at Shastri Nagar area, had seen suspected accused Pawar in September 2015, before the assassination of Com Pansare. SIT police also mentioned that during the investigation from September 2, police had raided accused Tawade’s residence in
Pune and Sanatan Ashram in Panvel and recovered materials, books papers on Hindu religion and drugs. They also gave registered papers of his motorcycle which alleged used in attack on Com Pansware.
Com Pansare and his wife Uma were attacked by two unidentified persons who fired at them near their residence in Shastri Nagar on February 16, 2015. Com Pansare succumbed his injuries later in a Mumbai hospital.
