Security forces launch CASO in south Kashmir, clashes erupt

Srinagar, February 14

A Cordoned and Search Operation (CASO) was launched in south Kashmir district of Anantnag, where security forces burst teargas shells to disperse the stone pelting demonstrations on Wednesday, official sources said.

They said on a tip-off about the presence of militants, security forces and Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police launched a joint search operation at village Soaf-Shali in Anantnag on Wednesday.

However, people immediately hit the streets and started pelting stones on security forces to disrupt the operation. Security forces burst teargas shells and also resorted to lathicharge to disperse the demonstrators, who were pelting stone and trying to enter the cordoned off area.
