A National seminar on ‘New Education policy in the context of India’ in collaboration with Shiksha Sanskriti Uthan Nayas, (SSUN) New Delhi was organized in Vivekananda college of Education, Lakhanpur, Kathua.
Prof. R.D. Sharma Vice-Chancellor University of Jammu was chief guest whereas Desh Raj Sharma Convener North Zone Shiksha Sanskriti Uthan Nayas was the special dignitary to present the keynote address.
Programme started with the lighting of the lamp followed by Sarswati Vandana by the students of the College.
In his welcome address Dr. S.K. Gupta said that it was a great matter of honour for the college to have such reputed academicians and educationists. Organizing the seminar is a part of the mission which aims to bring various educationists working in the field of education or associated with education on a common platform, sit together, discuss and come on with various suggestions, ideas and innovations.
In his Keynote address Desh Raj Sharma highlighted the objectives of the New Education Policy to find and establish alternatives to the present education system in India by changing its “syllabus, system, methods and policy” in an effort to “Indianise” it. He also highlighted the sub-themes of the seminar i.e. linking education to culture, Value education, Autonomy in education, Environmental Education, etc. Chief Guest in his address congratulated the management of the College for organizing such high level Seminar. He said the new technologies have brought opportunities for learners.
Integration of new technologies into educational settings has emerged as a priority task in the education sector.
The inaugural session ended with vote of thanks presented by Principal of the college Dr. Anju Sharma. She said that the college is greatly encouraged by the gracious presence of dignitaries and immensely benefited by their inspiring address. It is because of the vision and leadership revolutionary changes have been brought in Educational sphere.
The resource persons invited for conducting the technical sessions were Dr. S.M. Gupta Ex. Prof. and Dean Faculty of education, Kurukshetra University and Prof. K.B. Sethi Principal (Retd.) Govt. College of Education and founder Principal of the College.
More than hundred delegates of various colleges and universities not only from colleges and universities of J&K state but also from Colleges and Universities of other states like Punjab, Haryana, U.P. Uttarakhand, Delhi, Arunachal Pradesh etc. presented their papers. The Chief Guest for valedictory session was Prof. Deshbandhu Gupta Dean Academic Affairs, University of Jammu. He was welcomed by Dr. S.K. Gupta. He shared his views on the New Education Policy.
Chief Guest along with Chairman Dr. S.K. Gupta and Principal Dr. Anju Sharma presented certificates to all the participants. He was honoured with memento on behalf of the Vivekananda family.
