Separatists extend strike till Aug 25

The separatists today extended till August 25 the strike against 65 civilians killings in security force firing since July 9, a day after Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) commander Burhan Wani and two other militants were killed in an encounter in Anantnag. However, there will be relaxation between 1800 hrs and 0600 hrs everyday. The separatists have also asked people to assembly at Aripanthan in central Kashmir district of Budgam tomorrow to offer Friday prayers and to pay homage to four youth killed in security force firing on August 16.
Both the factions of Hurriyat Conference (HC) and Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), spearheading the present agitation, have urged residents and Masjid committees in entire Kashmir valley to visit each and every household and provide essential commodities to the needy on August 24. “Organize ‘Azadi Road Shows’ and march towards district headquarters on two wheelers and on foot on August 20. Wherever stopped, sit and protest till evening,” a joint protest calendar issued here this afternoon said. The separatists have also urged people to paste poster letters on the walls of the residences of all MLAs, MLCs, Ministers and mainstream politicians, asking them to resign from government and party positions on August 21. “Assemble and occupy local chowks and centers from 1500 hrs to 1700 hrs on the same day,” the statement said. On August 22, the separatists have urged people to hold rallies from every Mohalla, Village and Locality towards respective tehsil headquarters. “Offer Zuhur prayers at Tehsil headquarters and after nimaz hold “Referendum Congregations” for the freedom of Jammu and Kashmir on the same day,” it said.
