SF burst teargas shells to disperse demonstrators in Srinagar

Business and other activities came to halt when security forces burst teargas shells and resorted to lathicharge near here to disperse stone pelting demonstrators, demanding release of a local youth who has been booked under Public Safety Act (PSA).
People, mostly youths again hit the streets at Maisuma, stronghold of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) this afternoon and started moving towards Budshah Chowk and Lal Chowk, the nerve centre of the city. However, security forces and state police personnel deployed at Budshah Chowk immediately swung into action and stopped demonstrators to move towards main busy road.
The demonstrators pelted stones on security forces, who resorted to lathicharge and later burst teargas shells to disperse them. Traffic on Maisuma and Haji Masjid route was diverted and business and other activities came to halt.
Ashiq Ahmad Dar was arrested for alleged anti national activities and later booked under PSA.
