Siddu urges centre to allow Kannada in NEET

Chief minister Siddaramiah today expressed his dissatisfaction over the union government not giving chance Kannada medium students write the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) by writing in Kannada language.
Speaking to newsmen at the airport here, he said with Kannada excluded while other six regional languages were allowed in NEET, the State government had written to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare requesting it to include Kannada in the list.
He said he had already asked concern officials medical education department to apprise the students the problem and said having a question paper in both Kannada and English would help students from rural areas as most of them study in Kannada medium schools. He also asked the, Medical Education Minister Sharanprakash Patil to consult with the union health ministry in this behalf. He wondered what the 18 MPs from the state belonging to BJP were doing when Kannada was given a shoft shift by the centre.From the 2017-18 academic year, NEET will be the only gateway for a seat in medical or dental colleges. The Common Entrance Test (CET) for admissions to engineering, agriculture, pharma and other courses will also have a bilingual question paper this year. Speaking political issues, he said the BJP state unit president B S Yeddyurappa had said the party eyed to win 150 seats in the 224-member house in the next Assembly elections while JD(S) had said it will win 125. ”Both the party leaders are day dreaming. Congress has no such mission, but we will retain the power”..
On the Nanjangud by-elections,the chief minister said BJP would be pushed to third place even if it pits former Congress leader and former minister
Srinivasa Prasad.
