Bhaderwah, April 17
SKUAST-J on Tuesday Tuesday conducted a training programme and workshop at Krishi Vigyan Kendra Doda.
Dr. Mahital Jamwal, Senior Scientist and Head of Regional Horticultural Research Sub-station, Bhaderwah. Dr. Ravneet Kour, Head of KVK Doda welcomed all the participants to monthly officers training and visit workshop.
The Convener of the workshop, Dr. Jamwal introduced the participants with the message of the month for actions to be taken in fields in three districts. Dr. Kour discussed with the participants about several cultivation practices of horticultural crops in the region. Dr. Amit Charak suggested improved varieties of different crops for the region and emphasized for timely application of recommended fertilizer to the crops, while, Dr. Neeraj Kotwal recommended several plant protection measures in different agricultural and horticultural crops of the region. Dr. Sanjeev Kumar suggested the participants to make awareness among farmers for soil testing and fertilizer application for maintaining the soil health and elaborated the methods to keep the complete record of soil health. Dr. G.N. Jha put light over the potential of aquaculture in the region and available schemes with the government to help the farmers to adopt integrated farming system in the fields, whereas, Dr. Rohit Sharma suggested line cultivation of rajmash and maize for higher reaches in the region for optimum production, as asked by field functionaries.
