National Conference senior state vice president and former minister, Surjeet Singh Slathia on Friday assailed the PDP-BJP duo for sowing seeds of discord among people and plunging Jammu and Kashmir into crisis like situation.
“The coalition partners are suffering from inherent contradictions and playing to galleries, as a consequence of which the people of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh find themselves pushed to the wall”, Slathia said while addressing workers at Village Nandpur Ramnagar in Vijaypur Assembly Constituency this afternoon. He said deceptive politics and disruptive posturing of the PDP-BJP has cost the state dearly, not only in terms of gap between the people widening but also performance of the administration taking nose dive due to lack of political direction.
The former minister assailed the PDP-BJP Government for contemptuously ignoring peoples’ aspirations and taking vicarious pleasure in their accumulating woes. “It is a dispensation of sorts, which itself rejected the first spell of (mis)governance as abject failure and instead of learning lessons continues to be nonchalant in the present spell as well”, he said, adding that the coalition does not show any sign of grit and determination to solve peoples’ problems.
Referring to disenchantment and dejection among people over disruption in peace and development, Slathia said the efforts of the Omar Abdullah led government during six years on putting the state on the path of progress and normalcy have been undone by the present insensitive and anti-people coalition.
Speaking on the occasion, senior NC leader and MLA Dr Kamal Arora dwelt upon fluid political situation across the state and said that being premier political party, the National Conference cadre had to get further activated to meet the challenge.
On the occasion, several activists of the BJP and Congress, including Sunny Nathyal, Mohinder Singh, Jarnail Singh, Bittu Choudhary, Sonu Choudhary and their associates joined the National Conference. Slathia welcomed them in the party fold and hoped they will further strengthen the NC at grass roots level.
