SMD reviews functioning of ICDS projects

The State Mission Director, Talat Parvaiz, convened a meeting to review the functioning of Integrated Child Development Schemes (ICDS) and other allied services being provided to the children and women by state and central Government here today.
District Programme Officer Ashok Pandita, Assistant Commissioner Development GH Kripak, District Social Welfare Officer Varunjeet Charak, Child Development Project Officers, field Supervisors, Anganwadi workers, helpers and local people were present in the meeting.
District Programme Officer apprised the Mission Director of working of various ICDS projects in the district along with their achievement recorded in various components against the targets fixed for ensuing financial year.
Threadbare discussion was held on various components like construction of building for AWCs, drinking water facilities, sanitation provisions, vaccination of children, Growth charts, referral services, ADHAAR seedling of staff and beneficiaries, opening of new AWCs, status of crèches, involvement of allied agencies in ICDS.
Stressing on implementation part, Mission Director asked the ICDS functionaries to ensure effective functioning of Anganwadi centres in the district. He instructed the District Programme Officer for timely procurement and distribution of nutrition items and other materials in the centres besides maintaining the quality aspect with due involvement of Food analysts. Later, the Mission Director interacted with field staff including AWWs and AWHs and local people and took stock of their issues.
