Dr. Ekta Rai, Assistant Professor, Department of Biotechnology, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Katra contributed as one of the two leading authors in an international research work that has been published recently in the top-notch research journal in Biology “eLIFE”. The Editor-in-Chief of the Journal is 2013 Nobel Laureate “Randy Schekman” and Journal is known for publishing state-of-the-art extraordinary studies. Many of the members of the research team are eminent scientists from USA.
The study is considered very important as the research work of the team produced a comprehensive dataset of the variations causing susceptibility to Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE). The study also demonstrated that common disease alleles contain multiple causal variants modulating multiple immune system genes. This study is expected to bring new insight for targeted therapies.
