Soldier injured as Pakistan again violates ceasefire in Poonch

A soldier of the Indian Army was injured after Pakistani troops once again violated ceasefire at Krishna Ghat secotor in Poonch district on Saturday.

The injured has been identified as Soldier Yashpaul Singh of 22 Sikh Li.

Police said that after giving him first aid doctors at once airlifted the injured soldier to Udhampur Command Military Hospital for advance treatment.

Police said that Pakistani troops targeted Indian posts at Krishna Ghati at around 5:00 AM to 6:30 AM and during firing Indian soldier received injuries. Indian troops also retaliated.

Pakistan has violated the 2003 ceasefire over 25 times along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir since the September 29 this year when the Indian Army carried out surgical strikes in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir to destroy launch pads or staging areas for terrorists.

Major ceasefire violations took place on 3, 4 and 5 October along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu region.

On October 5, Pakistani troops violated ceasefire thrice and resorted to heavy firing and mortar shelling to target several Indian posts and civilian areas in three sectors in Poonch and Rajouri districts, provoking retaliation by the Indian Army.

Last year, 16 civilians were killed and 71 others injured in 405 incidents of cross-border firing by Pakistan.
