Speaker pays rich tributes to Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, other departed leaders

Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta today paid rich tributes to the former Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.
Speaking on the obituary reference, moved in the Legislative Assembly, the Speaker said Mufti Mohammad Sayeed was a great politician, a true democrat and an acknowledged statesman who was acquainted with the art of adapting politics according to the needs and circumstances.
The services rendered by the late leader for the welfare and the development of the nation and the state will be always remembered by the generations to come, he said.
The Speaker while paying rich tributes to former Union Minister and Parliamentarian, Late Balram Jakhar said he was a popular leader and his contribution towards enriching the parliamentary democracy in the country besides the social service will be remembered by the generations to come.

Minister for Education, Naeem Akhtar today termed the former Chief Minister, Late Mufti Mohammed Sayeed as a great visionary who worked on a single mandate to connect hearts, regions and people.
Speaking on the obituary reference in the Legislative Assembly this morning, Akhtar recalled his long association with Sayeed that started in 1986.
Minister called Mufti Sayeed a saint of politics as he was a unique leader who was not after acquiring properties or building assets.
The Minister said that it was during the time of late Mufti Mohammed Sayeed that connectivity became a discourse in the State for the first time.
“Even during the last phase of his life Mufti Sahab took historic steps as he wanted to respect and represent the aspirations of all the regions of the state,” he said.
Akhtar said that Sayeed made the democracy competitive in the state. “Earlier we had no options but after Mufti Sayeed came to the scene, he presented before the people another option to express their faith with,” said Akhtar.
The Minister paid his respects to late K V Krishna Rao former governor of Jammu and Kashmir. He said that former governor delivered amid trying times and ensured that democracy takes roots in the State.
“His efforts led to the culmination of 1996 elections and formation of Dr Farooq Abdullah led government,” said Akhtar.
Assembly Secretariat goes online, MLAs to receive information through SMS, email

In order to ensure that the members of the Legislature are updated on daily basis about the Business to be conducted in the State Legislature, the State Assembly in collaboration with the IT Branch of J&K Legislative Assembly will be providing the requisite information through SMSs as well as Email.
The step would go a long way in ensuring the smooth functioning of the Budget Session. It is pertinent to mention that the Assembly Secretariat would be providing all the requisite information on their website i.e. www.jklegisltive.nic.in.
Mufti Sayeed strengthened democratic institutions in state: Dr Nirmal

Paying rich tributes to former Chief Minister, Late Mufti Muhammad Sayeed, Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh today termed him as a great visionary and said the late leader played a significant role in strengthening democratic institutions in the state.
Speaking on the obituary reference in the house today, Dr Singh said that in his short stint, he learned a great deal with the former Chief Minister.
“The capabilities of Mufti sahib were recognized at national level also due to which he rose to key positions during his political career,” he said. “PDP-BJP forged an alliance which was impossible ideologically but Mufti sahib proved that times have changed and all the parties should work for the development of the State and the country,” he said.
“Mufti sahib will be remembered for his qualities and he will also be remembered for, making us understand the role of opposition in democracy,” he said.
Leaders like Mufti Sahib aren’t born overnight: Veeri
Srinagar, May 26
Paying rich tributes to former Chief Minister, Late Mufti Muhammad Sayeed during the obituary reference in the House, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and R&B, Abdul Rehman Veeri said that “leaders like Mufti Sahib aren’t born overnight.”
“If the leader is dynamic he can change the fate of the nation and such was Mufti sahib’s vision towards the State that whatever decision he would take would prove his greatness,” he said.
Recalling his association with the late chief minister, Veeri said that he has grown under Mufti’s patronage. “I have all along remained under the patronage of this great leader, who is being remembered by all the parties today,” he said.
The Minister said that throughout his life Mufti worked for the welfare and development, besides peace and prosperity of the State.
Pointing towards opposition, Veeri said, “You can have differences with Mufti Sahib but he can’t be ignored in the political history of the State,” he said.
“Mufti Sahib would be remembered for all times to come for his pro-people approach,” he said.
