Srinagar- Jammu highway which was opened for moving vehicles few days back, experienced rainfall yesterday. Although the clouds still persist, the weather has improved since last evening and the traffic continues.
However, according to the prediction by Weather department, harsh weather is expected today. This will be a problem for Administration as the work for 4-lane road is under process and the nearby hotels and tea stalls have been abolished. Providing accommodation to the passengers, commuters and drivers during snowfall will be a challenge.
Ramban, where occurrence of landslides is the most during winters has witnessed a decline since 16th October when Administration stated about maintenance of Jammu-Srinagar highway on every Friday. This order was decided up to 30th November but got extended till 31st December. This also decreased the traffic jams on the highway which is a relief for the residents of Ramban.
