The Srinagar-Leh highway will be thrown open for traffic on April 29, officials said today.
The road was closed for traffic due to snowfall and slippery conditions in December last year.
Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Tariq Hussain, told Greater Kashmir that if weather conditions will remain favorable the highway will be re-opened for one-way traffic for Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) on April 29.
The strategic road, which connects Ladakh region of Jammu and Kashmir with the valley, remains shut for traffic during winters due to snow on the road.
Border Roads Organisation (BRO) Officer in Command Sumit Dass said that they have cleared the snow from the highway and made the necessary repairs.
