Various social, political and student organizations across the state today organized a program to celebrate the 125th birth anniversary of Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar.
Jammu and Kashmir National Conference on Thursday paid glowing tributes to Bharat Ratna Baba Sahib Dr B R Ambedkar, describing him as an ambassador of peace and Messiah of down-trodden who relentlessly worked for social justice and equality.
Leading senior leaders in paying floral tributes to the architect of Constitution of India, Additional General Secretary Dr Sheikh Mustafa Kamaal and Chairman SC/OBC Cell Babu Ram Pal said that best tribute to Baba Sahib would be to work for strengthening bonds of amity and brotherhood between various segments of society.
Dr Kamaal lauded the role of Dr Ambedkar in bringing about harmony between various sections of people and laying sound foundations for just society based on equality and social justice.
Recalling services of Dr Ambedkar to Indian society, former minister Babu Ram Pal eulogised him as a great social reformer and leader of depressed classes, who worked for the uplift of downtrodden all his life.
Babu Ram Pal said that Baba Saheb will continue to inspire generations, as his tireless efforts to strengthen amity and working towards realisation of the dream of just society have yielded positive results. “This spirit is to be maintained and bequeathed to the posterity’”, he added.
AIBCU held a progarmme under the chairmanship of Sajad Hussain Ahanger, District President Kulgam in which Abdul Majid Malik with his Central Committee Members Team was the Chief Guest. Programme was to Commensurate the Birth Anniversary of Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar, the Architect of the Indian Constitution.
Before independence, the country was though ruled by the English, but the Shudras, (OBCs/SCs/STs) the mulnivrasish of the country were suffering from the inhuman attitude of the Chaturverna System of the Hinduism. They were not having any right of education; right of property but being treated worst than the animals because of the “untouchability”. Even women were not allowed to receive education.
With the implementation of the Indian Constitution not only, the Shudras who were the Mulnivasis of this country could get the rights of education, the right of property (moveable / immovable) but now at present every individual can get education irrespective of caste-creed and colour and women are also now occupying the highest posts in the country after receiving education to the level of their desire. Under Chaturverna System, still there is no change in the Hindu Religious books and Badd Dua like, “Dhol, Gawar, Shudar, Pashu Nari, yeh sab tadan ke adhikari hai” still figure in the religious books.
The Zonal President JKNPP Neeraj Gupta organized a function to celebrate the 125th birth anniversary of Baba Saheb Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar.
He regretted that though the state of J&K is part of India it is very unfortunate that the implementation of Indian Constitution in Jammu and Kashmir is still not integral. He praised Baba Sahib for opposing the insertion of Art 370 which has stopped the entry of Indian Constitution to the J&K.
He said, had Indian leadership accepted Baba Sahib Ambedkar opinion to merge the state of J&K with the Union of India along with other 577 state. There should have been no disturbance in J&K as is witnesses today in Kashmir.
He further said that BJP should fulfill its promise of Ek Nishan and Ek Vidhan as it is in power now. He said that BJP should prove that it is the only Party which thought about the welfare of Jammu and if it cannot do so then it has no right to be in power. He said that he will fight for the cause of implementation of constitution of India and it will be a real tribute to Baba Sahib Ambedkar.
All India Confederation of SC/ST /OBC Organisations paid homage to Dr. Ambedkar. In this connection a march was flagged off by Minister Abdul Gani Kohli from Resham Ghar to Ambedkar chowk Rail Head Jammu.
Majority of participants were youth who marched with full enthusiasm with panchsheel flags and raising slogans like jai bheem jai bharat, jab tak suraj chand rahega baba tera naam rahega, on their motorbikes and scooters from Resham Ghar colony to Ambedkar Chowk.A number of drummers were also part of the rally and were fully enthusiastic about it. Various portraits of Baba Sahib were graced with flower showering.
Paying tribute to Baba Sahib Ambedkar Minister of Animal Husbandry Abdul Gani Kohli said that his government would work for welfare of people of Reserved Category in the state. He stressed that he will tirelessly work for solving problems faced by community in the state. He said that coalition Government is committed to work for implementation of whole Reservation in the state in letter and spirit.
On reaching at Ambedkar Chowk, Anayat Ali, Chairman Upper house J&K council and Lal Singh Minister for Forest, joined the gathering for garlanding the statute of Baba Sahib and paid homage to the father of the Indian Constitution.
While addressing at the venue where Minister Ch Lal Singh said “Inclusive development is the Govt’s main agenda” whereas he quoted through Indian constitution a drastic change has come in the society as the country as well as states are progressing. He also assured that the people of J&K will be fully benefitted from social justice policy programme by the state government.
Bahujan Samaj Party celebrated birthday anniversary of “Bharat Rattan” Baba Sahib Dr. BR Ambedkar, wherein large number of Party workers/followers participated.
State NCP under the Chairmanship of Former Minister Thakur Randhir Singh paid homage to Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar on his birth anniversary. While addressing the gathering Thakur said Ambedkar Jayanti is a festival observed on April 14 every year to commemorate the memory of Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar. This day is celebrated as birth anniversary of Dr. Ambedkar who born on this day in the year 1891.
Krishan Kumar Digra Vice President state NCP paid homage to the Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar said that Babasaheb was the first person to introduce the right to equality in the constitution of the India under Article 14 he further said that Dr Ambedkar was the first to introduce equality to Hindu women.
Rattan Chand Chairman state NCP SC/ST cell said that Dr Ambedkar fought against the untouchability and worked for the upliftment of the downtrodden in the all fields of society.
Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu in collaboration with National Service Scheme Campus Unit paid tributes to Dr. B R. Ambedkar by organizing a symposium on the topic “Role of Dr. B.R Ambedkar in shaping Modern India”.
Students from different colleges and the departments of the University of Jammu participated in this event and paid tributes to Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar through presentations.
Sangpriya from GCW Parade, Afshan from GCW, Gandhi Nagar and Sanam from Department of Sociology, University of Jammu stood First, Second and Third respectively.
While underlining the role of Baba Sahib Bhim Rao Ambedkar in empowering women in India, Minister of State for Education, Technical Education, Tourism, Culture, Horticulture, Floriculture and Parks, Priya Sethi said that Dr. Ambedkar was a champion of women rights who worked for giving equal rights to the women and fought for ensuring that basic rights are ensured to the females.
She said the Dr. Ambedkar linked progress of community and society with the degree of progress achieved by the women folk of that society.
