The office Bearers of Wushu Association of J&K and the Chief Sport Officer Haji Qayoom Ahmed of the J&K State Sports Council gave rousing reception to the medalists of the state at the International Wushu Championship at Yerevan (Armania) from April 21-25, 2017. The team was sent by the Wushu Association of India in which almost 19 players from different parts of the country participated, 14 countries participated in the championship. Indian Wushu team secured five Gold, 5 Silver and 6 Bronze Medals in the meet in which J&K players shared 2 Gold, 2 Silver and 1 Bronze medals. The selection was based on the recent performance in the 25th Senior National Wushu championship and Federation cup held at Patiala.
Sports Minister Moulvi Imraan Raza Ansari and Secretary State Sports Council Wahid-ur-Rehman Parra convened congratulations to the medalists and the Wushu Association of J&K for earning such feat at the international arena. Pertinent to mention here that recently two players of the state in the Indian Squad secured Gold and Bronze Medals in the 6th Pars Cup at Iran, The team was coached by Kuldeep Handoo (Chief National Coach of India).
The Office bearers of the Wushu Association of J&K Yogesh Sawhney (Patron), Vijay Saraf (president), Ranjeet Kalra (vice president) and Sunil Sharma (vice president) congratulated the Medalists Ajaz Hassan (Gold), Sunil Dev Singh (Gold) Pankaj Raina (Silver), Tsering Angmo (Silver) and Jabeena Akhter (Bronze) for making the state and the Country proud.
Keeping in view of the forthcoming 18th Asian Games-2018, they appealed Chief Minister, Sports Minister and the Secretary J&K State Sports Council for provision of the proper Wushu equipments and the Infrastructure to the Wushu Sports to carry out daily work out initially in both the capital cities as the Wushu Sports is the only sports till date having excelled at World/Asian level championships.
The Wushu Association of J&K is organizing 15 Days coaching camp at MA Stadium in connection with the Senior and Junior Selection trial for the World and the Asian Championship respectively in order to get the maximum share in the National Coaching camps.
The Wushu Association of India in collaboration with Sports Authority of India shall organize the National Coaching camp for the Junior and Seniors at SAI Bhopal from 20th May 2017 and will send the Indian team for the Foreign exposure training at China from 20th June to 20th July prior to the 14th World Wushu championship at Kazan (Russia) from September 26 to October 4, 2017.
Earlier the office bearers of the Wushu Association of J&K thanked Union Sports minister and Secretary cum DG SAI for allotting centre of excellence for Wushu, High Altitude centre to J&K, and the NCC for the senior team at Srinagar in view of the forthcoming 18th Asian Games-2018.
This was revealed by Kuldeep Handoo who attended the ACTC meeting at SAI Headquarters New Delhi along with President Sh. Bhupender Singh Bajwa and the General Secretary Suhel Ahmed of the Wushu Association of India.
The others who were present during the function were Sohit Sharma (Treasurer) Ajay Paul Gill, Arun Singh Charak, Lalit Singh, Bhanu Partap Singh, Rajinder Singh, Ashi Jamwal, Atuland Rohit.
