Streets flooded, traffic snarls as heavy rains lash Hyderabad, seven killed

At least seven persons including four children were crushed to death in two separate incidents of wall collapse in Hyderabad as heavy rains lashed city since early Wednesday.

The first incident took place in Bholakpur area of Musheerabad, when a wall of an under-constructed building collapsed and killed a woman and her two daughters. In an another incident, a couple and their two children were killed when a boundary wall of a building fell on their hut in Ramanthapur area in Uppal

Heavy downpours occurred in Hyderabad, Secunderabad and surrounding areas since morning causing waterlogging massive traffic to snarl in the city.

Waterlogging and massive traffic jams were witnessed in the city, leading to people stuck on the roads in Hyderabad. Traffic movements were disrupted in parts of Hyderabad due to heavy rainfall and streets were flooded with water, according to  report.

All major roads in Hyderabad including Banjara Hills, Jubilee Hills, Madhapur, Gachibowli, IT Corridor, Somajuguda, Begumpet witnessed huge traffic jams due to waterlogging.

Earlier today, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) had requested people to avoid taking to streets till the rain water recedes.
