Struggle to list Gojri in 8th scheduled enters in decisive phase

Maintaining that the ongoing movement to get the tribal language-Gojri included in the eighth scheduled of India Constitution enters in the decisive phase -the speakers of a programme organised by Tribal Research and Cultural Foundation today appealed the Gujjar community residing in 12 states of India for a joint and final struggle for national recognition of their mother tongue.
The programme was presided over by noted tribal researcher Dr. Javaid Rahi while prominent writers, poets and intellectual of Gojri participated in the programme.
The event was held to discuss the issues related to Gojri language and its inclusion in the eighth scheduled of Indian constitution.
Dr. Javaid Rahi in his presidential address said Gojri being oldest and significant languages of India deserves recognition at National level since long. He said Gujjars-the main speakers of Gojri- mainly lives mainly in 12 states of North-Western India, listed as ST in J&K and Himachal Pradesh and OBC in 10 other state are fighting vigorously for inclusion of their mother tongue in 8th Schedule of India which is a common feature among Gujjar community belongs to Hindu Muslim and Sikh religions.
The meeting was informed by the members of Tribal Foundation that for inclusion of Gojri in India Constitution, Governor N N Vohra, two Chief Ministers of the state from time to time have wrote separate letters to Union Home Ministry thereby recommending the Gojri for its conclusion .
The meeting adopted six resolution on the occasion includes constitution of committee to pursue the matter related to inclusion of Gojri in the eighth schedule of India constitution, opening of Gojri Research Centre in Jammu Universities, Gojri Department in Kashmir University , provide share on Doordrashan and Radio proportionate to the pollpulation of Gujjars ., introduction of Gojri up to 12th standard through state Board of school Education, recognition of Gojri by Sahahity Akademi New Delhi.
A committee of senior writers , poets and intellectual was also constituted and announced on the occasion which will work jointly and to meet different dignitaries to address the issues with regard to development of Gojri language and Culture.
Others who were present on the occasion included Abdul Rehaman Bhadhana , Kareem Ali Dildar, Ghulam Rubani, Aaijaz Ahsen, Rukam Din Bhomla, Aslam Bhalot , Khadam Khaki and others.
