Students of erstwhile Doda district are strongly against the decision of merging CET and AIPMT. Students of J and K were already in shock on the refusal of SC to re-look into the matter. They are near dead on knowing that candidates who applied for NEET-I are completely ineligible for NEET-II.
Speaking on the matter Umar, a student and JKCET aspirant said, “Throughout the year I didn’t waste a single day and was preparing for CET. I had applied for AIPMT also but when I realized that there is a gap of only two weeks between the two examinations. I gaveup the idea of appearing in AIPMT to concentrate better on CET. “He further said that the travel to Delhi-where his AIPMT centre was fixed-would have meant waste of many previous days. Like Umar, another CET aspirant Nadeem whose AIPMT centre was in Delhi said that his father couldn’t afford travel and stay expenses.
Hariz, like other students said, “I decided that I would prepare better for CET. Not in my wildest dreams had I thought that I would lose a year due to this sudden shocking decision.” It is important to note here that hundreds of erstwhile Doda students can’t appear in any medical examination this year if CET is not held. They are appealing to the concerned authorities not to merge CET and AIPMT at least this year. They may do the necessary changes effective from next year.
