Serious Study Report By: Harbans S Nagokay.
Although! News stating Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s decision to take Hurriyat and leaders of Pakistan-administered Kashmir (POK) on board for his speech in the United Nations General Assembly later this month. Nawaz will be visitingMuzaffarabad on Friday (tomorrow) before leaving for New York. He will consult the Kashmiri leadership regarding his speech at the UN session.
On the other handin Rajouri district of Jammu zone; where just a few months back, curfew had been imposed after police reportedly failed to control the agitating Muslim protesters who were demanding immediate arrest of the ‘communal monger’ activists of Hindu zealot Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad organisations for setting IS flag with ‘KalimaTayyaiba’ (Islamic scripture) written on it by white chalk. Curfew was imposed in again at Rajouri town of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday i.e. yesterday night after tension prevailed between the members of two communities following stone-pelting incident over the rumours of alleged sacrilegious act, according to police.
And yetagain, with least possible news spreads and breaking newsflash due to the ban on internet services that has been extended as a precautionary measure in Kashmir from the day prior to Eid-ul-Azha, an outlandish but somewhat foreseeable news came about the ‘RESIGNATION OF TARIQ HAMEED KARRA;the Lok Sabha MP of the ‘Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’ from Srinagar-Budgam, announced his resignation today from the party and Parliament.
Nonetheless ‘Tariq Karra’who was the founder member of the PDP, and boycotted the oath-taking ceremony of chief minister Mehbooba Mufti earlier this year, keep on stressing upon CM Mehbooba / PDP to reconsider tie-up with BJP. According to Karra; “The PDP-BJP regime is pushing people of the state to the wall,” and”At a time when the minorities in India are looking towards a united leadership to counter the radical Hindutva elements, PDP should not be seen as cozying up to such elements for the sake of power,” said Karra.
The leader’s resignation comes close on the heels of widespread criticism from within the party over the state government’s handling of the protests following the killing of HizbulMujahideen commander BurhanWani. Over 82 people have died in clashes with security forces across the Kashmir valley over the last two months.
In a major blow to the PDP-BJP alliance in Kashmir, one of their founding members and MP, Tariq Hamid Karra resigned from the party and parliament. Known for being the PDP’s face in Srinagar, has been openly critical of the alliance since its formation. He famously defeated National Conference stalwart and former Union minister Farooq Abdullah from the Srinagar-Budgam constituency. He further said: “This is an unnatural alliance and the PDP is losing its character of buffer and they are doing exactly what they opposed since the party was formed.”
Karra, served as the finance minister in the PDP government led by Mufti Mohammad Sayeed in 2002.
He was quoted saying “As mark of protest on moral grounds against brutal policies of BJP at centre and state’s government complete sell-out, I took this decision. I’ve decided to disassociate myself from primary membership of PDP & from the membership of Parliament. I have resigned from the primary membership of PDP and Parl membership.”
Ex. Finance Minister and Senior Leader of PDP Tariq Hammed Karra, who was the founding member of the party, had boycotted the oath-taking ceremony of chief minister Mehbooba Mufti earlier this year. The Lok Sabha MP has been critical of the PDP’s alliance with the BJP in the past. He was also of the view that many of the ministers in the state government were ‘inexperienced’ and had no clear vision regarding Kashmir.
Noticeably;Karra’s resignation comes days after MuzaffarBaig, another senior leader of the PDP, asked Mehbooba to resign in case the PDP-BJP combine fail to deliver its promises on the ground.Baig had admitted that the party cadres were deeply disappointed with the functioning of the government. Baig represents the Baramulla constituency in north Kashmir.
It is otherwise to make note that through Karra; Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) earlier during election, use to condemned the alleged forcible conversion of Muslims in Uttar Pradesh saying the SanghParivar was apparently in a hurry to take advantage of BJP’s ascendance to power to covert India into a ‘Hindu Rashtra’ and we strongly condemn the alleged forcible conversion of Muslims in Uttar Pradesh and the claim of SanghParivar to convert hundreds of thousands of more Muslims and Christians to Hinduism. It is a direct assault on the rights of the minorities in the country,” senior PDP leader and MP Tariq HameedKarra said earlier few months back also. Addressing road-side election meetings inHazratbal Assembly segment, Karra said India was a secular country and religion a matter of personal preference but the way SanghParivar and its frontal organisations like RSS and Bajrang Dal are aiming at changing demographic picture of the country, it is extremely alarming.Karrause to said that theSangh has similar designs for Jammu and Kashmir also but the PDP is emerging as the first choice of the people which would ensure that the diverse and inclusive character of the State is preserved at any cost.
However, with such News of Political Unrest, and few incidents of clashes, valley till evening today remain still cool like looks with no internet and least of mobile / broadband services that actually made Ex CM Omar Abdullah, very annoyed alongside many internet lovers.
