Three Verinag residents killed in road accident on Srinagar-Jammu highway

Three persons died after a car they were travelling in skidded off the road near Panthyal bridge on Jammu-Srinagar Highway early Tuesday morning, police said.

An official said that a car, bearing registration number DL4CAF-3334, en route to Srinagar skidded off the road near Panthyal bridge on highway at around 6:30 am and fell into a gorge.

All the three occupants, including the driver, died on spot, he said.

Rescue teams comprising locals, police, army and CRPF rushed to the spot for extricating the bodies from the gorge.

SHO Police Station Ramsu Mohammad Amin said that all the bodies were being extricated from 500-feet deep gorge.

He identified the deceased as Imtiyaz Ahmed, son of Habibullah, Tariq Ahmad, son of Ghulam Mohammad and Sajad Ahmad, son of Abdul Gani – all residents of Nowgam Verinag in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
