In order to kick start activities for tourists in the Valley, the department of tourism Saturday organized Spring Carnival in Gulmarg which attracted lot of tourists and locals.
In the carnival, Gulmarg was bustling with the activities which include race of Anti Terrain Vehicle, and Ponywallas in main bowl. At Kangdoori, the race was organized for snow scooters and skiing and sledges.
MLA Tangmarg Mohammad Abbas was the chief guest on the occasion while Director Tourism Kashmir Mahmood A Shah was the guest of honor. CEO GDA Nazir Ahmad Mir, Deputy Director Kashmir Publicity Peerzada Zahoor, officials of the JKTDC and Gulmarg Gondola and travel trade fraternity were present on the occasion.
All the activities happened amid snowfall in the Gulmarg which further added beauty to the carnival.
The tourists present on the occasion appreciated department’s efforts to organize such events.
Bollywood Director and Actor Imran Khan who had arrived Kashmir from Mumbai just yesterday was mesmerized by the Valley’s pleasant weather.
He said people are struggling in Mumbai and other cities with soaring temperature of 40 degree Celsius but in Kashmir it is snowing.
“I feel every Indian should make it a point to visit Kashmir and enjoy its beauty. The weather so pleasant that one would want to stay here forever,” said Imran Khan.
Director Tourism Kashmir said it is the part of their program to organize tourism activities and engage visitors in such activities.
He urges service providers to make tourists stay very pleasant with their services.
“We will organize more activities in the coming season so that tourists enjoy their stay here and also get to see different tourism products we have to offer,” said Shah.
