With a view to attracting the foreigners in large numbers and showcase the tourism potential of the state in the global market the Department of Tourism participates in International events. In this regard, the department has sponsored/participated in the following 06 international events of tourism promotion in the last two years.
Officials say, “The Tourism Department has carried out a road show during Arabian Travel Market in Dubai (ATM) in April 2016, TAII conference shows in Abu Dhabi in October 2016, J&K Festival, London in October 2016, Ski festival organised in Austria in November 2015, ATM Dubai in April 2016 and WTM London organised in November 2016.”
Officials claimed that in future department would also conduct several road show or other events to attract the foreigners towards J&K tourism.
Officials said that the Prime Minister during his visit to State in June 2015 announced a package of Rs 2181 crore for tourism sector. In this regard, a series of meetings were held at various levels with Ministry of Tourism, Government of India and finally the ministry asked the state government to prepare the Concept plan for an amount of Rs 400 crore under PMDP for consideration during the current financial year.
The concept papers were shared with the Ministry and consequently DPRs in accordance with guidelines of Himalayan Circuit theme of Swadesh Darshan were prepared in a circuit mode for availing the CFA from Government of India.
The strenuous efforts paid the results and Government of India conveyed their approval to the execution of circuits as Ist tranche under Himalayan Circuit Theme of Swadesh Darshan.
The circuits which were approve for the theme of Swadesh Darshan included Circuit : Anantnag-Kishtwar-Pahalgam-Daksum-Ranjit Sagar Dam Circuit with the sanctioned amount of Rs 96.39 crores, Jammu-Rajouri-Shopian-Pulwama Circuit with the sanctioned amount of Rs 96.38 crore, likewise Gulmarg-Baramulla-Kupwara-Leh circuit-Rs 96.93 crore and Mantalai-Sudhmahadev-Patnitop-Circuit Rs 97.82.
