Troops foil two major infiltration bid in north Kashmir

Srinagar, November 24  Alert troops foiled two major infiltration bids from Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) in north Kashmir during the past 24 hours, official sources said. However, the defence ministry spokesman was not available.   Sources said troops guarding Line of Control (LoC) in Naugam sector noticed some suspicious movement. When challenged, the infiltrators opened fire while fleeing back into POK, they said adding security forces also retaliated. There was however, no report of any casuality.   Security forces also foiled similar infiltration attempt in Gulmarg sector, where after a brief exchange of fire militants managed to escape back into POK. Large number of militants are waiting in launch pads at LoC to sneak into this side from POK before the infiltration routes are closed due to snowfall.       The infiltration attempt came after Pakistani troops violated ceasefire at Keran, Machil and Gurez sectors during the past 24 hours.
