Two day long Pahari conference concludes

On the second and concluding day of the 2-day Pahari Conference organized by the J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages, one research paper was presented by Dr. Jehangir Danish on the topic “Opportunities and challenges for regional languages like Pahari”. The paper reading session was followed by a musical segment in which noted singer Kartar Chand mesmerized the audience with his impactful renderings of Pahari folk. In the post-lunch session, short stories were read by Zanfar Khokhar and Ratan Singh Kanwal respectively.
The first session was presided over by Prof. Assadullah Wani while former minister Syed Mushtaq Bukhari was also in the presidium. The second session was presided over by noted Punjabi writer, Khalid Hussain. The audience took keen interest in the proceedings of the conference and asked questions and gave observations. Prominent writers and poets sat through the proceedings and made the conference lively through their interventions and opinions.
A Pahari Mushaira was also held. Poets who recited their verses and received applause from the audience included Parvez Malik, Sidiq Ahmad Sidique, Rashid Qamar, Nazir Hussain Inis, Iftikhar Qureshi and Bashir Ahmad Khaki among others. Noted writer and member J&K Legislative Council, Zafar Iqbal Manhas presided over the proceedings of the Mushaira. Pahari folk dance and music formed the concluding part of the conference.
