Two drug peddlers held with 9 kg poppy straw in separate districts

Jammu Tawi, April 25
Police today claimed to have arrested two drug peddlers and recovered nine kilograms of poppy straw from their possession in separate places in Jammu and Udhampur districts. In Jammu, Satwari police claimed to have arrested a drug peddler and five kilograms of Poppy straw from his possession. Police said that on the tip off, a police party of Police Station Satwari laid down a surprised naka at Raipur Satwari near Bhatha and intercepted a pedestrian.
During his personal search, police party recovered five kilograms of poppy straw from his possession. Police at once arrested him and seized the recovered contraband.
In this regard, a case FIR number 98/2017 has been registered at Police Station Satwari under relevant sections of law. Further investigation of case is going on. The arrest and recovery was made by Sub Inspector Sandeep Charak and Inspector Manjeet Singh, Station House Officer (SHO) Police Station Satwari under the supervision of SDPO City South, Rafiq Manhas and SP City South, Sandeep Choudhary.
Meanwhile, Udhampur Police today arrested a drug peddler identified as Ashwani son of Om Prakash of Dina Nagar Gurdaspur, Punjab and recovered four kilograms of Poppy straw from his possession.
Police said that on the tip off, a police party of Police Station Udhampur laid down a surprise naka on National Highway near village Sangoor, Udhampur and intercepted a truck bearing registration number PB06G-7111.
During search operation, police party recovered four kilograms of Poppy straw from the said vehicle. Police at once arrested the driver of the truck and seized the recovered material and truck.
In this regard a case under under narcotics and drugs Act was also registered against the arrested accused person in the Police Station Udhampur.
