Two Haryana residents arrested with 95 kg poppy straw on Kashmir highway

March 9: Two persons were arrested along with 95 kilos of poppy straw during a checking on Srinagar-Jammu highway in Banihal area of Jammu and Kashmir, said an official.

Five plastic bags, each containing around 18 kilos of poppy straw, were recovered from a Wagon-R car during its checking at old toll post, said SHO Banihal Nazir Ahmad Dar.

Two persons, identified as Bagwan Singh (driver), son of Hakam Singh, aged about 35 and Baga Singh, son of Pan Singh, aged around 50 – both residents of Fatehabad in Haryana – were arrested, he said.

An FIR vide number 24/16 U/S 8/15 under NDPS Act has been registered at police station Banihal, said Dar.
