Security forces today claimed to have apprehended two terrorists in Pattan city of Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramullah district in a joint operation.
The security personnel also seized two AK-47 rifles, ammunitions, grenade launchers and grenades.
Meanwhile, a police constable was shot dead by the terrorists in Pulwama district in the wee hours of Saturday last week.
The police constable, Khurshid Ahmed, was killed outside his house in Koil village at around 3:00 a.m. As per reports, he was leaving his home for duty when the militants shot him from a close range.
Similarly, an Army jawan was killed and another injured as troops foiled infiltration attempt by the militants along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jogma area of Akhnoor sector.
Official sources said troops observed movement of three militants trying to infiltrate into the Indian Territory from the LoC in forward area of Jogma along the LoC in Akhnoor sector.
Alert troops opened firing, leading to an encounter in which one Army jawans was killed and another injured.
However, retaliation by the troops forced the militants to retreat, sources said.
The jawan, who attained martyrdom in the exchange of firing, has been identified as Rajendra Singh of Churoo, Rajasthan. His body will be sent to his native town tomorrow morning with full military honours.
