Continuing its campaign against Narcoterrorism in the valley, the police on Tuesday caught two people with two kilos of brown sugar in Handwara, North Kashmir. The police have also seized a vehicle.
According to the information received, a special Naka was put up by the Kupwara Police at Wanagam on the Handwara-Baramulla road to thwart any terror attack because of Republic Day. The Naka party was examining the vehicles passing by. Meanwhile, the Naka party signalled a car (DL9CJ-2559) to stop. However, ignoring the signal of the Naka party, the driver tried to turn the vehicle back and run away.
The jawans posted at the checkpoint acted swiftly, chased the vehicle, and stopped it. Two youths inside were detained at the same time. The car was searched. Two kg of brown sugar was found in the search. Along with this, the police arrested both the youths and confiscated the narcotics and their vehicle. Both the accused have been identified as Mohammad Yusuf Butt and Mushtaq Ahmed Butt. Both of them are residents of Rafiabad under District Baramulla in North Kashmir. The officials concerned said that they are linked to the Narco-Terrorism Module. At present, the interrogation of both is going on.
