The Akhilesh Yadav government in Uttar Pradesh will be holding one of its crucial cabinet meeting tomorrow during which it will announce several sops for the state.
The Cabinet meeting, which could be the last one before the announcement of the assembly polls, is set to give its approval to the Seventh Pay Commission recommendations for over 2 million employees of the state government.
The state legislature session has also been convened from December 21, which would pass the supplementary budgetary grants. The supplementary budget grants would take care of the additional funds to be required for the payment of enhanced salary and arrears to the state employees after the implementation of Seventh Pay Commission from
January 1, 2017.
The state would require around Rs 27,000 crore additional burden annually for the same.
In the Cabinet meeting, the government could approve the quantum of vote-on-accounts for the first four months of the next fiscal.
According to sources here today, the state cabinet is expected to give green signal to a slew of development projects, including the implementation of the Samajwadi Health Insurance Scheme while several projects are likely to be announced for ruling Samajwadi Party pocket boroughs of Azamgarh, Etawah, and Badaun.
Among the key decisions to be taken are beautification of Ramghar pond in Gorakhpur, policy for revival of closed single screen theatres, concession on khadi garments, and policy for promotion of mega industrial projects in UP .
The government may also increase the retirement age for specialist medical officers in government hospitals and medical colleges to 70 years.
Other proposed decisions include 1,000-seat auditorium in Rampur, which is the hometown of senior minister Mohammad Azam Khan.
A new tehsil, Motipur, will be created in Bahraich, and nine villages from Jaswant Nagar assembly constituency, represented by state SP president Shivpal Yadav, will be linked with Saifai tehsil in Etawah.
