Vaid flags off ‘Bharat Darshan Tour’

Ninety Six students from different districts of the State were flagged off for Bharat Dharshan Tour “Apna Watan Jano” from Police Headquarters (PHQ) lawns  by Additional Director General of Police Headquarters (ADGP), SP Vaid.
The tour has been organized by Jammu and Kashmir Police under its Civic Action Programme and will conclude on February 24.
While addressing the students on the occasion, Vaid said that such tours build bridges of understanding among the students of different regions and connect them with the heritage and culture of the country. He said that our country has a cultural diversity and the students of far-flung areas should have knowledge of history and technological developments of the Nation.
Vaid disclosed that this was the 5th batch of students from five districts of Baramulla, Budgam, Kulgam, Shopian and Poonch, which is being sent on Bharat Darshan Tour.
He said, “During the tour the students would visit different historical places and educational institutions in the country, and interact with various dignitaries. In Kolkata, they would visit Victoria Memorial, Howrah Bridge, Eden Garden Park, Nicco Park, Shaheed Minar, Digha Beach, Science City and Marble House, besides would meet the State Governor. Also they would interact with Vice Chancellor, Banaras Hindu University and visit Ganga Ghats, Alamgiri Masjid and Triveni Sangam.
“The students would be taken to Lucknow Zoo, British Residency, Dr Ambedkar Park in UP, Rajghat, Red Fort, Qutub Minar, India Gate, Lotus Temple, Jantar Mantar, Rajpath and Indra Gandhi House in Delhi” he added.
Earlier, Commandant, IRP 1st Battalion, TR Katoch informed that the group would be accompanied by Deputy SP, Tariq Mahmood and other staff members during the visit. He said that the touring students would be provided efficient boarding and lodging during the visit.
Among others, the function was attended by Danish Rana, DIG Armed and Alok Kumar, Director Prosecution.
