Daljit Singh Chib, Vice Chairman J&K State Advisory Board for Development of Kisans, visited Border District of Poonch in which the locals of the area highlighted their demands and submitted a memorandum to the VC.
Highlighting their demands, the farmers said that it is the time of hybrid and a farmer should use the hybrid seeds so that they can generate and increase their income. As demanded by the progressive farmers the climate of the Kashmir is similar to that of the Poonch District and there is a high potential of potato crops. They demanded that the seed for the Potato should come from the Gulmarg Area of Kashmir Division which has been very successful in this area. Secondly they demanded that Garlic has got a very high potential in this District and requested that seed for the same be available in this District in advance so that there will be no shortage of that.
Speaking on the occasion, Chib said that Kisan Advisory Board has recently conducted a Mega Kisan Mela on 22nd of September, 2016 in District Poonch , where the farmers of the far-flung areas of the District were present. He impressed upon the farming community to use new and innovative agriculture technology to increase their agriculture growth. He assured that the demands put forth by the progressive farmers will be fulfilled very shortly.
