VC SNU pledges support to raise literacy rate in rural areas

Dr Shazad Malik, Vice Chancellor of Sain Nath University (native of Mendhar) today while speaking in an education motivational programme organized by the local youth of remote village Salwah in Mendhar sub division of Poonch pledged his institutional as well as personal support to upgrade literacy rate in the area and even other villages of the sub division. Urging the parents to lay stress on the education of their wards, Dr Shazad also called it the duty of the society to lend their morale, financial and motivational support to those families who due to their limited resources or other reasons are unable to give their children the required educational facilities. Prominent people of the area were also present on this occasion and appreciated the gesture of the VC in visiting remote areas and interacting with the students to boost their moral. After the educational program a friendly volleyball match was also organized in honour of the vice chancellor played between the local teams including Night ckub Salwah and Khan Club Salwah. To promote sports talent amongst rural youth, the vice chancellor announced providing complete Volleyball kits, uniforms and Kabadi team uniforms for the local teams. Others who also addressed the gathering included Naib Tehsildar Nawaz Ahmed, Retired SP Mohammad Akram Inspector (Retired) Rafiq Khan, Mushtaq Khan, Captain (R) Mohd Sadeeq Mir, Choudhary Mohd Hafiz, Qayoom Khan, Tazeem Khan, Azad Khan and others.
