Verifying degrees of teachers in govt schools

To give better education to students in government schools, concerned department at last constituted a committee for verification of degrees and qualifications certificates of teachers promoted as masters in February 2014. Although various teachers obtained fake degrees and serve in various government schools in the state. Now with this step of government will give benefit to only those who are genuine and have valid degrees. Those who has fake degrees will be dismiss from the jobs and punish them as per law.
Several complains have already registered various times regarding the fake degrees to authorities but slow pace of concerned department put these fake degree holders out of reach. Now this is the welcome step of government to verify the degrees of those teachers who were promoted since February 2014 as masters.
This step will be beneficial for those who have valid degrees who are giving their best in the schools. Authorities should also abolish the quota system for promoting teachers in the education department. Only give promotion to those who will give their best results this will also give boost to those teachers who are hard workers.
Authorities are taking the initiative to ascertain the genuineness of degrees and eligibility for promotion under the chairmanship of Principal, State Institute of Education (SIE), Jammu. The committee will submit its final report to the DSE Director on December 6.
Sources claimed that the verification committee comprised of five principals, two lecturers and four research officers.
The committee members have been instructed to remain available in the directorate for verification process. Chief Education Officers (CEOs) of all districts of the Jammu division, too, were instructed to come to the directorate along with dealing assistants with required authenticated documents.
The sources claimed that when the order for promotion of around 1,193 teachers to masters was issued on February 11, 2014, instructions were also issued regarding verification of their degrees and qualification certificates, but a very few had came up for the same and majority of the promoted teachers were not able to get their degrees and qualification certificates verified.
Mohammad Iqbal, Principal, SIE, Jammu, while confirming the development, said a committee was constituted for the verification of academic documents of promoted teachers. The process of verification of degrees and qualification certificates is in progress and we are hopeful of its completion within stipulated time so that the final report can be submitted.
