An impressive veterans rally was organised today at Samote in Rajouri district by the Indian Army. The rally was inaugurated by the General Officer Commanding, Uniform Force in the presence of dignitaries from the civil administration. 290 veterans and 24 Veer Naris from the districts of Rajouri and Reasi attended the meet. Approximately 600 locals also witnessed the rally. The rally gave the veterans and Veer Naris a platform to interact with officials from Records of various Army establishments, civil administration, civil police and banks. Numerous Government and commercial stalls for awareness and basic needs of the locals were established which included CSD counter, Medical & Veterinary Assistance Counter, Ex-servicemen Grievances Cell, ECHS Help Line, Employment and Counseling Centre, Youth Employment and Guidance Node, Recruitment Information Centre, Handicraft, Women Empowerment, Op Sadhbhavana Activities, Banking Awareness (SBI, PNB & JK Bank), NIIT Career Counter, LIC Counter, stall for Sheep and Wool Husbandry, Sericulture, Agriculture, Horticulture & Fisheries Departments. The event was followed by an equipment and weapon display where plethora of the latest weapon and equipment for the locals were showcased by the army. The highlight of the rally was the ‘Suvigya Package’ stall which was established for the veterans to resolve the pension related issues as well as know their correct pension entitlement. The event was appreciated by the veterans as a successful measure to address grievances of ex-servicemen and their families. They appreciated efforts of the Army towards maintaining peace in the region.
