Vigilance Organization traps Senior Assistant in Thathri for accepting bribe

The sleuths of Vigilance Organisation Jammu today arrested a senior assistant for accepting bribe for making State Subjects in Thathri, Doda. Officials of Vigilance Organization said that one Shabir Ahmed Bhat son of Khazra Bhat of Tipre Tehsil Thathri District Doda lodged a written complaint to Vigilance Organization Jammu (VOJ) that one Mohammad Mushtaq Zargar Senior Assistant posted in Tehsildar office Thathri son of Late Ghulam Nabi Zargar of Bhalla District Doda demanded bribe from him for making state subjects for his children. In this regard, a case under FIR number 14/2017 under section 5(1) (d) r/w section 5(2) of J&K P.C Act and section 4-A P.C Act (Amendment-2014) was registered in Police Station Vigilance Organisation Jammu (VOJ) against Mohammad Mushtaq Zargar Senior Assistant. The complainant in his complaint has alleged that one and half week ago he had applied for preparation of State Subjects in respect of his four children after completing of all legal formalities in Tehsil office Thathri. He has mentioned in his complaint that his elder son had to fill-up the form for employment for which state subject was necessary to him. The complainant has further alleged that when he approached the concerned clerk for the purpose, the said clerk stated that though he has completed the requisite formalities for the State Subjects for which he projected a demand of Rs 2000 as illegal gratification to the complainant and the complainant gave him an advance amount of Rs.500. The complainant has also alleged that the said Senior Assistant asked him to pay him the remaining amount of Rs 1500. The complainant in view of his poverty and huge family background expressed his inability for paying the remaining amount of Rs.1500/-, but the accused senior Assistant Mohammad Mushtaq refused him to issue the State Subject of his wards and told the complainant that till he will not pay him the remaining amount of Rs.1500 the State Subject will not be issued to him. The complainant in his complaint has requested for taking legal action against the corrupt official under law and providing of justice to him. Accordingly, on the basis of the said complaint/registration of the instant case, a successful trap was laid by the vigilance sleuths under the command of Kartar Singh DySP against the said senior Assistant of Revenue Department and he was caught red handed while demanding and accepting Rs 1500 as illegal gratification from the complainant. After completing all necessary formalities the said Revenue official was arrested for further legal action. Investigation of the case is going on.
