Water campaign programme organised

NABARD in collaboration with Centre for Environmemt Education (CEE) Ahmedabad today launched a water campaign programme for Doda and Kishtwar districts.
DDM NABARD, Doda Rajesh Badyal told that the water campaign programme has been assigned to a local NGO Shagun Youth Club Bhaderwah.
The main objective of the campaign is to create mass awareness about the need for conservation/ preservation and efficient use of water through available technologies by the rural community. These initiatives will attract investments for creation of farm level infrastructure which would lead to productivity enhancement and famers’ income besides addressing social issues. The main objectives of the programme were create awareness among the stakeholders about importance of water and its judicious utilization/ management.
Badyal further told that in Doda and Kishtwar District the special focus will be on Rainwater Harvesting, drip and sprinkle irrigation and spring shed developments.
These objectives will be achieved through various awareness programmes to be organized by a special force of 16 persons in each district called Krishi Jal Doots. A team of two Jal Doot will cover 25 villages. In all 200 vulnerable villages will be covered in each district before the onset of the monsoon.
