The speaker Kavinder Gupta on Tuesday said that government will present the report over the killing of five youth in Kupwara on appropriate time.
He was responding to the query from Independent Legislator who demanded the magisterial probe report into the killings from the government. Earlier the government has said that it would present the report within two days. After failing to present it in due time, the speaker on Monday said that the report will be tabled on Tuesday in the house.
Er Rashid soon after the Question Hour stood from his bench and reminded the speaker about the government’s commitment to table reporton Tuesday. “Speaker Sahab you have asked that the report will be presented today. The government is taking house for granted. Where is report? We want to know who have been guilty behind the killing of five youth in Kupwara,”he said.
The speaker in reply said that that the report will be presented by the government at appropriate time. “The report will be presented at appropriate time,” the speaker replied. It was for the third consecutive time that the government had failed to table the report over the killing of five youth in Kupwara in the house. Earlier after Governor N N Vohra’s speech, the PDP-BJP government had sought two days to present the report in the lower house of J&K Legislature when the current budget session started on May 25. Later the government had demanded some more time to table the report in the house .
On Tuesday Deputy Speaker directed the government to present the report on Tuesday. However, government has failed to present it so far. Handwara witnessed massive clashes between the police and locals on April 12 after the news of a girl being molested by an army soldier spread. Five people were killed in firing by security forces during the protests.
