Amid rising cases and COVID-related deaths, a majority of the districts in the Jammu region came under the weekend lockdown on the second day of lockdown Phase-6 on Sunday, restricting the movement of people and operation of all non-essential establishments.
Police personnel, assisted by paramilitary jawans, were deployed across the different parts of the region to strictly enforce the lockdown. Police vans were spotted announcing lockdown and telling people to adhere to the guidelines strictly.
Earlier, District Magistrate Sushma Chauhan informed, “There shall be a complete restriction on the movement of individuals, vehicles and all activities within the entire jurisdiction of Jammu district, except emergency medical services, from 6 pm on all Fridays till 6 am on all Mondays.” However, Markets were totally closed but local chemist, fruits, vegetables and dairy shops remain accessible for community needs.
Police vans were spotted announcing lockdown and telling people to adhere to the guidelines strictly and also taken action against those who do not adhere to the guidelines and roaming without reason.
