Delhi government has rightly imposed a ban on fitting locally fitted CNG-kits in cars because of their being at times sub-standard. At the same time Prime Minister has launched India’s first CNG-fitted two-wheeler scooter. Already National Green Tribunal (NGT) has banned cars with diesel-engines of above 2000 cc.
Otherwise also since procurement-price of both petrol and diesel being almost same, it is not proper to allow use of lower-priced diesel to be used in cars. Diesel is priced lower for keeping prices of public-transport and commodities low. Central government should allow manufacture of only CNG-fitted petrol cars and scooters in the country.
