Will government order a probe into the assets, properties and luxurious life style of a selected category of police, administrative and revenue officers.

Highly place sources told Newspoint that a group of IAS, IPS, KAS, KPS officers have accumulated disproportionate wealth and immovable properties both within and outside the state. They added that these officers in order to keep their collars white and safe have purchased most of immovable property including land, plot, buildings, hotels etc on the names of their relatives and friends while some of them have get it registered on the names of their servants and maids.

Sources explained that these officers after registering their ‘Benami’ properties on the names of their relatives and servants have taken power of attorney from them to attain actual ownerships rights. In Jammu; these officers have purchased benami properties in Trikuta Nagar, Gandhi Nagar, Shastri Nagar, Channi, Sunjwan, Chawadi, Gujjar Colony, Kot Bhalwal, Bantalab, Gangyal and etc and are on rent or left abandoned.

In Kashmir the Benami properties of these officers are at Sant Nagar, Jawahar Nagar, Raj Bagh, Gogji Bagh, Peer Bagh, Panta Chowk and other posh areas localities of the valley. If sources are to be believed about 40 IAS, IPS, KAS, KPS are in this group who have purchased about 60 percent of the flats recently constructed and sold across the Jammu and have also given their thousand kanals of Benami land to various land developers for its timely and judicious use for maximum profit.

Sources further added that these officers have also purchased immovable properties in other states also which included Punjab, Himachal, Haryana and Delhi. While across the Jammu they have purchased hotels and plots at various tourist destinations like Patnitop, Kud, Batote and Bhaderwah etc.

“On the time of filling ACR, these officers don’t show these properties on being Benami as purchased on the names of their relatives and friends. What they show in the ACR is just a peanut to safeguard themselves from legal actions under disproportionate act” sources added.

Unfortunately, the successive and the present ruling government has never considered it important to review the illegal properties accumulated by its officers as they owning to which these handful of officers have become billionaire by gobbling thousand kanals of government and private land that’s too with the assistance of land mafia.

If we go through the history only single officer namely Kiran Wattal former commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) was penalized by the government under disproportionate act and his Benami property was attached by the government. Rest till date no action under the act has been taken by any of the government employee especially the top brass like this group.
