Hosts Jammu and Kashmir made a wining start in the 62nd National School Games under-19 boys Football, organised by Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) under the aegis of School Games Federation of India (SGFI) at different venues, here today.
J&K defeated CBSE XI 3-1 to consolidate their position in group-E of the league round. Nadeem Ashraf opened the account for J&K netting the ball in the 14th minute while Sahil Kumar added two more goals striking in the 36th and 57th minute to make it a big win. The only goal from CBSE came through Anurag in the 59th minute.
Other winning teams of day-one of the competition were defending champion, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Jharkhand and Rajasthan. However, two of the eight scheduled matches ended in draw. While West Bengal held DAV to goalless draw, the score between Tamil Nadu and Lakshdeep remained 1-1.
