With Fresh Snowfall, Severe Cold Grips J&K

As the Chillia Kalan continues in J&K the weather in the UT has again changed. Many regions of J&K yesterday evening received rainfall and snowfall. While some regions have stopped receiving snowfall the Ramban, Banihal, and Nashri tunnel belt are still receiving snowfall. The MeT department has issued a notice regarding heavy snowfall in various parts of J&K in the next 12 hours.

The temperature recorded in Srinagar is -2 degree Celsius while in Gulmarg it is -7 degree Celsius. The temperature in Leh and Drass is also recorded in minus. With cool winds coming from J&K the National Capital is also shivering at a very low temperature. The Holy Shrine of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi also received the first snowfall of the season.

The temperature recorded in the city area of Kashmir is -5.2 degrees Celsius and the people of Kashmir are facing problems as all the water bodies are freezing.

Talking about the roads the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway has been blocked for the past 10 hours. The BRO and other organizations have fastened their operations to continue the traffic movement on the National Highway.
