India is at No. 3 in the production of Tobacco products and 2nd as Consumer in Tobacco products in whole of the world. Additional Commissioner, Reasi was the Chief Guest and the Chief Medical Officer Dr. Parvinder presided over the function. The Chief Guest stressed the need for the implementation of COTPA in all respect the Chief Medical officer explains the steps taken by the department regarding Tobacco Control Programme.
The workshop was organized as a part of Anti Tobacco Campaign launched by the Government of J&K in collaboration with Dr. N. C. Prabhakar Resource Person for the International Union against T. B. and Liaison Officer for Voluntary Health Association. Ashutosh Sharma Chairman ICDRC explains the role of civil society. Other speakers are from the Department of Education and Drug Control, Food Safety Officer. Bhupesh Mehta young professional provided the Secretarial Assistance for the function
