For promoting the digital economy campaign, Vittiya Saksharta Abhiyan (VISAKA) of MHRD through Higher Education institutions, the NSS unit of Amar Singh College, in collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir Bank Ltd. organized a day long workshop to educate the students in general, NSS volunteers in particular and the faculty about benefits and operational mechanism of the digital payment initiative taken by Central Government.
Besides the teaching staff of the college, the students and the NSS Programme Officers of all the city colleges participated in the programme wherein representatives of the technology wing of J&K Bank deliberated upon the various issues with regard to cashless transaction through the banks.
Principal, Prof. Mohammad Aslam Baba while acknowledging the importance of digital payments and transactions, exerted that a well-organized and consistent awareness campaign is needed to educate people about its benefits and operational mechanism. He asked the students to be the ambassadors of a positive and progressive socio-economic change in the society by percolating down the digital literacy among the marginalized sections of the society. The proceedings of the programme were conducted by the NSS coordinator, Dr Sheikh Tanveer Salaam. These workshops have been scheduled for all the colleges of the valley and Ladakh Division on already notified dates and at identified venues.
