Jammu, December 20

While as state BJP leaders have asked party ministers to oppose compensation to the family of Hizbul Mujhaideen terrorirst, Burhan Wani, a social activist from Jammu has filed objection to the notice issued by the Deputy Commissioner Pulwama in this case. V K Sethi, former Chief Education Officer (CEO) of Jammu, who is a known social activist of Jammu, has filed a written objection before the office of Deputy Commissioner Pulwama to grant ex-gratia to the Burhan Wani’s family.
Office of the Deputy Commissioner Pulwama had issued a notice last week in some selective news papers in which lists of some persons were appeared to whom the office is going to release ex-gratia. In the list name of Burhan Wani’s brother was also appeared.
As the Deputy Commissioner, Pulwama has sought objections, V K Sethi wasted no time to file his objections. Sethi has also written a letter to Prime Minister, Narendra Modi to oppose decision of the state government to grant compensation to Burhan Wani’s family.
The PDP-BJP coalition government on December 13 had announced compensation for slain Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist Burhan Wani’s older brother, who was killed by the security forces.
The Wani family will get Rs 4 lakh or government job from the state. In all, the state announced compensation for the families of 106 people who were either killed by security forces accidentally or by militants.
“According to the records with police and intelligence agencies, there was no FIR against Khalid. Besides, the intelligence agencies had ruled out his involvement in any terrorist activity. Therefore, we sanctioned the compensation to the next of kin of the deceased,” Pulwama DC Muneer-ul-Islam has reported told some media persons.
