X-Men Apocalypse : James McAvoy debuts the bald head

In a time when disappointing  are present in abundance, we have finally found ourselves a good one.

20th Century Fox published the first full trailer for the upcoming superhero movie X-Men: Apocalypse, starring James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence and Michael Fassbender, on Friday night.

The latest addition to the X-Men franchise, this movie will see an all-powerful mutant wake and vow to destroy the Earth with the help of his four henchmen — fellow mutants including Michael Fassbender as Magneto and Olivia Munn as Psylocke.

The task of saving the world from the eponymous villain (played by Oscar Isaac) falls to Professor X (James McAvoy) and Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence) with a team of young X-Men including Nicholas Hoult as Beast and Game of Thrones’ Sophie Turner as Jean Grey.

The trailer opens to an apocalyptic image of a burning world. Sophie, the young Jean Grey, has had a nightmare and Professor Xavier tells her it was all but a dream.

However, we next learn about our supervillain, Apocalypse, who is supposedly the first mutant ever.

He says in a booming voice that he has often been called ‘Ra, Krishna, Yahweh’, perhaps trying to say that it is him that the humans often confuse with God (very The Man From Earth vibes).

We hear a helpless Professor X say that Apocalypse ‘can control all of us’ (shudder).

But it is not all gloomy and sad, we also see the only amazing thing about X-Men: Days of Future Past, Quicksilver, return.

Jennifer Lawrence is back and looks more mature than how we saw her four years ago in X-Men: First Class.

We sort of miss Wolverine even though we earlier wished they’d stop using him as the protagonist in every damn movie.

And finally, as a treat to all the nerds huffing and puffing for a single look of McAvoy with the classic Professor X bald head, the trailer gives us this:

Is it just us or is he totally rocking it?

X-Men: Apocalypse will hit theaters on May 27, 2016.
